Privacy Policy

The short version

darkiv is a quiet archive for notes and links that come back when they matter. Everything you save stays on your device unless you sign in with Apple to sync it.

What is stored when you sign in

If you sign in, the following is stored on darkiv's server so it can sync across your devices:

• Your items: their text, links and titles
• Unlock triggers: dates, and the coordinates and names of places you choose
• The name of the place where you sealed each item. The iPhone app records this only if you have already allowed location access.
• Apple Watch moments, which can include your heart rate written into the note

The server is run on Supabase, hosted in the United States. Data travels to and from it over HTTPS, and database rules restrict every record to your account.

Your content is not end-to-end encrypted. It is encrypted in transit, but it is stored in a form that people with privileged access to the server could technically read.

Sign in with Apple

Sign in with Apple gives darkiv an account identifier and your email address, or Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide yours. darkiv receives nothing else from your Apple ID.

darkiv Pro purchases

darkiv Pro subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. darkiv never sees your payment details. The app checks your subscription on the device with Apple and stores nothing about it on darkiv's servers. Manage or cancel it in your Apple ID subscription settings.

Location

On iPhone, darkiv uses your location for place triggers and to note where you seal something, and only with your permission. Precise coordinates are stored only for places you pick. darkiv never keeps a history of where you go.

Health

When you seal a moment on Apple Watch, darkiv reads a single heart rate reading, and only with your permission. Nothing is ever written to Health.

What darkiv does not do

• No ads
• No analytics SDKs
• No tracking
• No selling or sharing of your data with third parties, except the hosting provider that stores it

Retention and deletion

• Your data is kept until you delete it.
• Delete account (in Settings on iPhone, or Account on the web) immediately removes your server data and your sign-in.
• Deleting an item removes its content from the server.
• Anything stored only on your device stays there until you delete it or remove the app.

Children

darkiv is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. This version is effective October 3, 2026.
